DEATH SUMMONS SHOPS FOREMAN

Joseph H. Holloway, Resident Here for Forty Years, Passes Away After Long Illness

Joseph Hall Holloway, a well-known resident of Lafayette for the past 40 years, and for 30 years employed at the Monon railroad shops as a foreman, died at St. Elizabeth hospital at 8:15 o'clock Monday morning, after a long illness. He had been sick for about a year.

Born in South Bend, Ind., February 17, 1866, he was the son of John N. and Etta Hall Holloway. After being educated in the public schools he attended Purdue university, and on March 7, 1886, he was married to Miss Rose H. Wagner of Lafayette. They have resided in this city continuously since that time. At the Monon shops where he has held a responsible position for nearly a third of a century he was held in high esteem by officials and fellow workmen. He was a member of Central Presbyterian church and Lafayette lodge 51, Knights of Pythias.

Besides the widow, Mr. Holloway leaves on daughter, Mrs. R. W. Noland of Lafayette, and two sons, John N. Holloway of Gary, Ind., and Charles M. Holloway of Chicago. He also leaves a granddaughter Barbara Jean Holloway, and a sister, Mrs. James A. Gray of Houston, Texas. The funeral will be conducted from the family home, 1003 Roberts street, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. W. R. Graham officiating. Friends may call at the house from Tuesday afternoon on to the hour of the funeral. Burial at Springvale cemetery.

MRS. ROSE D. HOLLOWAY

Mrs. Rose D. Holloway, 90, who formerly lived at Tenth and Robert streets, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday in the Campbell nursing home where she had been a patient 15 months.

Born in Warren county, she was married in 1886 to Joseph H. Holloway who died in 1926. She attended the University of Kansas at Lawrence where she was a charter member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She also attended Purdue university and was a member of Central Presbyterian church.

Surviving are a son, Charles M. of Chicago, and a daughter, Mrs. Madge E. Nolan, Lafayette.
