WEDS MUSICIAN

Charles J. Woodford of This City and Miss Eleanor Hornby Are Married

The Los Angeles Times this morning prints the picture of Mrs. Charles J. Woodford with the following interesting and romantic account of the marriage:

A romance that started with a voice from the choir loft culminated last evening in the marriage at Pasadena of Charles J. Woodford, aged 70 years, a New York capitalist, and Miss Eleanor Hornby, a young Burbank woman.

Dr. R. R. Meredith performed the ceremony at the home of the groom, No. 585 South Marengo avenue. Mrs. Bertha Winslow Vaughn, accompanied by Mrs. Nellie Schwankovski of New York, sang during the ceremony.

Educated at the University of Michigan and later a vocal student in New York, the bride was accustomed during her vacations to sing in the Presbyterian church at Santa Ana.

It was there, on a pretty May day, that the groom of yesterday first heard the soprano voice of his wife in a lyric strain, as a dream call from the choir loft. It was the beginning of an interest that rapidly ripened into love, in spite of the disparity in years.

In recognition of the unusual inception of their romance, it was the groom's desire that the lyric notes of a soprano voice should blend, as they did at the wedding yesterday, with the marriage vows as they fell from the lips of the two.

For some years the bride was a solo singer in various easter churches, including the Dutch Reformed church of Brooklyn, and the First Baptist and Mt. Clair Congregational churches of New York. She gave her age on the marriage license application as 30 years.
