QUIET HOME WEDDING

A quiet little home wedding took place Sunday noon at the home of Mrs. D. L. Persons on East Center street when her nephew, Orva E. Huston and Miss Carrie Foster were united in marriage by Rev. T. T. Creswell, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of this city.

Only the immediate relatives were present. The bride wore a pretty wedding dress of white charmeuse satin garnitured in lace and carried a bouquet of white carnations and maiden hair ferns. Following the ceremony a wedding collation was served.

Mr. and Mrs. Huston left at once on a short wedding trip and will be at home upon their return at Walnut. The guests at the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Huston, the parents of the groom, Mrs. D. L. Persons, Mrs. Hummel, Miller Huston, Edwin Huston, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Huston and daughters, the Misses Olga, Eva, Margaret and Mary Huston, Norval Huston and Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Keach and son, Russell Keach.

Orva E. Huston, 50-Year Resident of Valley, Dies

Orva E. Huston of 533 E. McKinley Ave., a resident of Pomona Valley for more than 50 years and long active in the citrus industry and in Masonic affairs, died of a sudden heart attack Friday afternoon. He fell in the yard of his home and was pronounced dead on arrival at Pomona Valley Community Hospital at 4:05 p.m.

Mr. Huston was born Dec. 19, 1884, near Montrose, Mo. He came to Pomona from Montrose with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Huston, and the family settled in Walnut. On July 27, 1913, he married Miss Cartie Foster in Pomona.

A resident of Pomona since 1920, Mr. Huston was a citrus grower in this area from 1910 until his retirement due to ill health in 1956.

He has been a member of Pomona Lodge 246, F & AM, for 42 years and was also a member of Pomona Chapter 110, Order of the Eastern Star.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Cartie L. Huston, he is survived by a brother, W. E. Huston of Houston, Tex., and two nephews, Charles Huston of Balboa and Richard F. Huston of West Covina.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Todd Memorial North Chapel. The Rev. W. A. Warner of the First Baptist Church will officiate, and the Masonic ritual will be conducted by Pomona Lodge 246, F&AM. Entombment will be in Pomona Mausoleum.

Cartie L. Huston

Mrs. Cartie L. Huston, 533 E. McKinley Ave., died Monday at 7:16 a.m. in Central Memorial Hospital, Montclair, following a brief illness.

She was born July 28, 1889, in Clinton, Mo. She came to California in 1913 and had lived in the Pomona area 57 years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Pomona Valley Historical Society's social club and the Senior Citizens, and was a charter member of the Pomona Community Women's Club and Pomon White Shrine.

She was married to Orva E. Huston in Pomona on July 27, 1913. He died in 1961.

Mrs. Huston was a 40-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Chino Rebekah Lodge, and a 50-year member of Pomona Chapter 110, Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one sister, Miss Marea E. Kerns of Pomona; a nephew, Howard W. Foster of Warrensburg, Mo.; and a grandniece, Marilyn Sue Huffman of Oak Grove, Mo.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Todd Memorial Chapel Pomona. THe Rev. Paul Ryan of the First Baptist Church will officiate.

Pomona Chapter 110 OES will conduct its ritual.

Entombment will follow in Pomona Mausoleum.
