C. H. Irvine Was Wheeler Park Zookeeper

C. H. Irvine, '89er and for many years keeper of the Oklahoma City Zoo, was to be buried in Sunny Lane Cemetery this afternoon. Funeral services were to be held at 2 p. m. at the Watts & McAtee Funeral Home.

Mr. Irvine, 62 years old, died suddenly yesterday of a paralytic stroke at his home, SW 69th-st and Walker-av. He had been in failing health for two years, but had not been seriously ill, and was sitting in a chair, waiting to go to town with his wife, when he was stricken.

Too young to stake a claim himself, Mr. Irvine settled with his parents on their homestead near Chandler in the run of 1889. He lived in that area more than 15 years.

He moved to Oklahoma City about 1905, and was zookeeper at the old Wheeler Park Zoo until it was destroyed in the flood of 1923. After the flood he again took up farming, locating at the south edge of the city, where his home remained until his death. He is survived by his widow; a son, Hugh C. Irvine; a brother, F. S. Irvine, and a sister, Mrs. D. L. Myers.
