Born February 11, 1917 in Oakland; passed away April 24, 2001 in Sacramento. Bob was the son of Lester and Agnes Kirkman who moved to Sacramento when he was 3 years old. Bob attended schools in Sacramento and graduated from Sacramento High School in 1935 and later attended Sacramento Junior College before serving in the Army in WWII. Bob's family, particularly his mother Agnes, who was involved with music throughout Sacramento, was instrumental in encouraging him in music and he was blessed with a beautiful bass voice. He worked for some years at the Supply Depot at McCllelan Air Force Base and later as a trainer for supply handlers in Southern California. Upon returning to Sacramento, he went into sales until his retirement. His retirement years gave him the time to pursue his life-long love of fishing rivers, streams, and hiking in the mountains as well as following baseball and football. He even became a King's fan in recent years. Besides his parents who preceded him in death, Bob is survived by his brother, Monroe, of Lajolla, his wife, Margaret, a loving and devoted companion of more than 62 years, his daughter Laurie and husband Ron Schuler, his son, Quentin, granddaughter Chelane and husband Tim Martin, grandson Rett Schuler and wife Ellen, and granddaughter Ronnell Schuler - fondly referred to as 'Squirt' as well as three great-grandchildren, Samantha Maddox, Jake Robert Martin, and Matthew Errett Schuler. Family services will be held on the shores of Lake Tahoe - a place of peace and joy for Bob but remembrances in his name may be made to the Sacramento S.P.S.C.A ... as his love of animals was only matched by his love of family.

A kind and gentle soul, leaving behind her physical infirmities, rose to be with the angels to join her loved and missed husband and son. Born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 2, 1918, she moved to Sacramento as a young child and spent the rest of her life here attending local schools and graduating from Sacramento High School's Class of 1937. Loving wife of Robert B. Kirkman for 63 1/2 years until his death in 2001, she was also preceded in death by her mother, Anna Clancy, sister, Louise McElwain, and her son Quentin R. Kirkman. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Laurel Schuler and son-in-law Ronald Schuler, grandchildren Chelane Schuler-Martin, Rett Schuler and wife Ellen, and Ronnell Marlena Schuler plus four great-grandchildren Samantha, Jake, Matthew, Michael, other nieces and nephews, and dear friend Doris Stowers...all of whom meant a great deal to her. Margaret worked for over 25 years in accounting for Savings & Loan organizations and ended her career with the County Dept. of Education retiring in 1978. An avid bingo player, traveler, and lover of good books, she was the kindest care-giver to mother, husband, and anyone else in need as well as her beloved animals...even the lost & broken wild turkey in her neighborhood in River Park where they resided for over 44 years. Remembrances in her name may be given to the SPCA and graveside services for family and friends will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park on Folsom Blvd. at 1:00, March 5th.
