Don was born in Dayton, Virginia, the son of the late DeWitt and Fleta Long. He was the Founder, Owner and President of Winchester Electric Service, Inc. He formed and founded Electrical Contractors, Inc., a division of Winchester Electric Services, Inc. Don, a member of Kernstown United Methodist Church, was also a lifetime member of the American Trapshooting Association. His favorite past time was boating on the bay with his family and friends.
Don and Brenda (Merritt) were married on July 2, 1982, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife is his daughter, Beverly Sutler and husband, Larry; son, Terry Long and wife, Becky; step-daughter, Lisa Yowell and husband, Bill; step-son, Doug Ruckman all of Winchester; grandchildren, Donna “DeeDee” Shrout and husband, Rick, Derreck Long, Trever Long, Trey Yowell, Doug “D.L.” Ruckman, Mitchell Ruckman, Casey Ann Beard, Amber Ruckman; and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Kernstown United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Kernstown United Methodist Church with Reverends Clay Knick and Charles Harless officiating.
Pallbearers will be John Baker, Donnie Stump, Willard Look, Ronnie Kercheval, Bill Yowell and Trey Yowell.
