Glen Rock—Miss Helen J. Hicks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. Hicks, this place, became the bride of John J. McClain, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. McClain, New Freedom, on Jan. 11.
The single ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Joseph T. Riley, pastor of the Epworth Methodist church, Cockeysville, Md.
The bride was attired in an aqua crepe street-length dress, with black accessories. She wore a corsage of gardenias.
Miss Lois Hicks, sister of the bride, was the bridesmaid. She wore a grey crepe street-length dress with black accessories, and she wore a corsage of mixed flowers. Donald Klineyoung, a friend of the couple, was the best man.
The couple is now residing in their newly-furnished apartment in Stewartstown.
Mrs. McClain is a graduate of the Glen Rock High school, and she is employed as a secretary to Daniel F. Swartz, resident manager of the Ben G. Helsel Real Estate agency, of York and Harrisburg.
The bridegroom, a graduate of New Freedom High school, served two years in the armed services.His is employed by his father, paint contractor.

John J. McClain, Sr., 77, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at ManorCare, Dallastown.
He was a WWII Army veteran; and he was a pitcher in the old Southern York County Baseball League in the 1950's.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; one son, John J. McClain, Jr. of York; two brothers, Larry of Brogue and Dale of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Betty Smith of York and Lois Berwager of New Freedom; four grandchildren, Casey, Cory, Kelly, all of York and Molly Peckham of Saratoga, NY; and two great-grandchildren, Brendan and Alex Peckham.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation arrangements by the Central Penna. Cremation Society.

Helen Juanita (Hicks) McClain, 82, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at York Hospital of natural causes. She was the wife of the late John McClain.
Born on September 11, 1929, in Bassett, Va., she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Madge Irene (Hall) Hicks.
Mrs. McClain was a secretary for 31 years at Amp Inc., retiring in 1989. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, spending time with her family and going out with her friends.
There will be no viewing and further arrangements are pending.
She is survived by a son, John McClain, Jr. of York; four sisters, Margaret Stiffler, Doris Duke and her husband, Frank, Shirley Jay all of York and Harriett Ansley of Manchester; two brothers, Donald Hicks of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Glenn Hicks of York. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Molly Peckham and her husband Paul of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Casey McClain of Los Angeles, Calif., Cory McClain and his wife Ashley and Kelly McClain of York. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Brendan, Alex and Caitlynn Peckman of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Maddox McClain of York.
