SARAH ALICE MCCLELLAND, daughter of FLORENCE ANNA HOUSTON and JAMES MCCLELLAND, was born March 24, 1892 in Nebraska,⁴⁵⁶ and died November 12, 1976 in Olathe, Johnson, Kansas.⁹⁰²⁴ She is buried in Olathe Memorial Cemetery, Johnson County, Kansas.⁴⁵⁶

At High Noon Monday, May 14, Miss Alice McClelland was given oath of office for County Superintendent, by the County Clerk, Mrs. Nellie McCulley. Miss McClelland is indeed well fitted for this important position by reason of her teaching experience of 10 years, her enviable scholarship, and her executive ability. We may look for great things during her administration.

MISS ALICE MCCLELLAND

Services for Miss Alice McClelland, 84, Olathe, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. She died Friday. She was a resident of Olathe Indian Hills Nursing Center.

Miss McClelland was born on March 24, 1892 in Nance County, Neb. She moved to Johnson County during her youth.

She was a former school teacher and had been a county school superintendent for Johnson County.

She returned to Johnson County about 10 years ago.

She was a member of the Olathe First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Belle McClelland, also of Indian Hills Center; two nieces, Mrs. Florence Lewisohn, Long Island, N.Y. and the Virgin Islands; two nephews, John D. Davis, Stayton, Ore. and Joseph H. Davis, Seattle, Wash. and great-nephews and great-nieces.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Olathe Library or the Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Olathe Cemetery.
