Marriage Announcements and News

Huntington Herald, April 24, 19154005

Mounsey-Beaty.

Miss Mae Beaty entertained a number of friends at her country home in Huntington county Thursday afternoon from two to five, and announced her engagement to Claude Munsey of Liberty Center. Each guest was requested to bring an apron, needle and thimble.

The rest of the afternoon was spent in playing games and contests. Miss Hazel McLaughlin was the winner of the advertising contest and Miss Cleo Allen the winner of the bean carrying contest.

Immediately following an advertisement was pinned upon the back of each person. The paper could only be removed after the individual had learned what she was advertising by asking questions of others.

Here they were called upon to use their sewing articles. Each member was given a small ball of carpet rags which they were told to sew.

Miss Josie Redding found a small envelope in which were two red hearts tied with a golden thread. Between these were found the words, "Mae and Claude, June '15."

A two course lunch was served.

Just before the guests' departure some one suggested tossing a cat to foretell who should be the next in line. It was prophesied that Miss Josie Redding would be the next bride.

Miss Fern Johnson and Mrs. Bertha Pribble assisted in the entertaining.

Miss Hazel and Miss Mildred McLaughlin, Gladys Corwin, Cle Allen, Darhl Sparks, Vivian Pribble, Nellie and Hannah Brechbill, Josie and Edna Redding, Lillian Will, Fern Johnson, Mrs. Bertha Pribble, Mrs. Rosa Dill and Genevieve Dill.

Mounsey-Beaty

The marriage of Claude Mounsey and Miss May Beaty took place Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at the Buckeye church in Huntington county. The attendants were Miss Fern Johnson and Guy Huffman, and the flower girls were Crystal Beaty, a sister of the bride, and Genevieve Dill. During the ceremony, a cousin of the bride played the wedding march from Lohengrin. The bridal gown was of white crepe de chine, fashioned with shadow lace and bead trimmings, and her veil was caught to her coiffure with smilax. After the ceremony, the couple went to the home of the bride where a wedding breakfast was served to the immediate relatives and friends. The Beaty home was fragrant with pink and white flowers, in honor of the occasion. Early in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Mounsey motored to Bluffton, and left at 6:32 for Niagara Falls. They will go to other points of interest.

The bride was graduated from the Bluffton high school and attended Indiana University. Mr. Mounsey also attended Indiana University, after being graduated from the Liberty Center high school. He has been assisting his father on the Mounsey farm.
