Marriage Announcements and News

Richmond Evening Item, June 17, 19165532

The wedding of Miss Marguerite Doan, daughter of Mrs. E. E. McDivitt, and Raymond Myrick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Layton Myrick, was quietly celebrated this morning at the home of the bride, 207 South Twelfth street. The Friends service was read by the Rev. Frances Anscombe of South Eighth Street Friends' church.

A profusion of field daisies and larkspur decorated the several rooms and the mantel shelves, archways and chandeliers were festooned with summer vines. The parlor was used for the ceremony room and it was arranged with bowls of daisies and larkspur with the fireplace doorways and windows twined with vines. The porch opening from this room, was enclosed with a screen of vines and summer greenery.

Previous to the ceremony Miss Laura Gaston played a program of bridal airs and for the entrance of the bridal party Mrs. W. B. Garver of Springfield, O., played the wedding march from lohengrin. The bride was attended by her nieces, Miss Matilda and Miss Natalie Yeo of Salt Lake city, and her cousin, Miss Dorothy Henderson of Berrien Springs, Mich. Miss Matilda, the maid of honor, wore a costume of white ruffled net with trimmings of pink rosebuds and pink ribbons. Miss Natalie and Miss Dorothy were gowned alike in blue taffeta and all carried baskets of daisy petals which were strewn in the pathway of the bride and bridegroom who entered together.

The bride wore her traveling costume of blue bird silk poplin with a lining of old rose taffeta and her hat was of blue in the same color tone. She carried a shower bouquet of white Killarney roses and vale lilies. At the close of the ring ceremony, Miss Gaston played the Mendelssohn wedding march.

A breakfast was served to the guests, who numbered fifty relatives and friends. The color note of yellow and white prevailed in the menu.

Mr. and Mrs. Myrick left this morning for a wedding trip and will be at home after July 20, at Whiting, Ind., where Mr. Myrick has accepted a position in the laboratory of the Standard Oil company.

The out of town guests who were here for the wedding included Mrs. W. F. Yeo and daughters, Miss Matilda, Miss Natalie and son, Master Erwin of Salt Lake City, Mrs. J. M. Garr and granddaughter, Miss Dorothy Henderson of Berrien Springs, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. William Way Reed of Winchester, Miss Lillith Farlow of Kokomo and Mrs. W. B. Garver of Springfield.
