Tennie Mathews Dies Here Today

Mrs. Tennie Mathews, 76, died at her home, 241 West Twelfth, at 7:45 a.m. today after three years of failing health.

She was born in Richmond on October 12, 1885, the daughter of Thomas F. and Mary Alice Ray, and spent most of her life in that city before moving to Rushville 15 years ago.

Mrs. Mathews was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church and an honorary member of the Harry Ray American Legion Pot in Richmond which was named for her brother.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. June White, with whom she made her home; a son, F. Ray Mathews of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel R. Smith of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Florence R. Ascher of Rushville, and a foster daughter, Phyllis Ann Noel of Rushville.

Services will be held at the Wyatt Moore Memorial at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, with Dr. E. Stanley McKee officiating, and burial will follow in Earlham Cemetery at Richmond. Friends may call at the memorial after 2 p.m. Friday.
