The marriage of Miss Zoe Louise Richardson and Mr. Prier B. Wright was solemnized at the Eugene-Cayuga Presbyterian church here at eight o'clock Wednesday evening, August 18, 1920, the Rev. John E. Wolever, brother-in-law of the groom, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Chas. E. Richardson, who is one of our oldest and most successful merchants. She has grown up here with and in this community and has a host of friends and relatives in this community. She has endeared herself to many who have associated with her and met her through her duties as a teacher of of music in our schools. The groom as well as the bride comes of a family well and favorably known in this section of the Wabash valley. He is the son of John B. Wright, whose present residence is at West Ridge, Illinois, but who formerly lived at Portertown, just to the south of Cayuga. At present and since his graduation at Wabash college has has been engaged in the rice business in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, where he owns and controls rice and other properties.
A very considerable program, rendered before and after the ceremony, lent a charm to the occasion. The accompaniments and instrumental music were rendered by Mr. Floyd Place of Newport, Indiana, a cousin of the bride. The songs were sung by Mrs. J. S. Auhle, Mrs. M. A. McLaughlin, Mrs. M. P. Hoover, and Mrs. Paul Weaver.
The ushers were Mr. Edd Scott of Columbia City, acting best man, Mr. E. E. Ames, Ed. Brown, Clifford Peterson, J. Roy Thompson of Crawfordsville, the best man being a fraternity brother of the groom being members of the Greek letter society of Phi Gamma Delta. The following from Cayuga acted as ushers, Mr. John B. Wright, brother of the groom, Mr. Walter Richardson, brother of the bride, Warren Coffin, J. D. Todd and Beryl Johnson, cousin of the groom from Terre Haute, Ind.
The bride's sister Miss Fay was maid of honor, Mrs. Carter England of Georgetown was matron of honor, and the following, maids: Floetta Goodwin and Zelma Harwood of Danville, Ind., Mattie Lotich of Corydon, Ind., LeVone Patrick of West Ridge, Ill., Helen Thomas of Cayuga.
Little Alma Richardson and Martha D. Schoolcraft the flower girls, were the remainder of the wedding party.
As an evidence of the popularity and esteem in which the couple are held, it seemed that everyone had responded to the invitations sent out to be present. The church was filled to standing room fully a half hour before the time set for the ceremony. Large numbers tarried for a short time to extend congratulations, wishing them a long and happy life.
Immediately after the wedding Mr. Wright and his bride left for Nashville, Tennessee, and for New Orleans enroute to their new home at Wright, Louisiana.
