Mrs. Martha Alice Dean Roberts, 87, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Huntersville Oaks in Huntersville after four years of declining health.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 pm Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Roberts was born May 29, 1921 in Muncie, IN. She was the daughter of the late William S. Dean and Garnet Baldridge Dean. She worked for as a bookkeeper for Melrose Highlands Congregational Church in Melrose, MA, where she was a member. She was an active member of the Women's Guild at Melrose Highlands.

Martha was known for being an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. She also loved bowling, mashed potatoes, singing and playing the piano with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard H. Roberts; son, L. Edward Roberts; two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by a son, William "Wally" Roberts and wife, Marilyn of Davidson; two grandchildren, Christine Roberts and William E. Roberts; and two great grandchildren, Jason Condon and Breonna Roberts.

The family of Mrs. Roberts would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Hospice & Palliative Care's of Catawba, Iredell, Lincoln, and Mecklenburg Counties.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Melrose Highlands Congregational Church Remembrance Fund, 355 Franklin Street, Melrose, MA 02176.2609
