Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Fitzsimmons are at home in Walters following a wedding trip to various points in Oklahoma and Texas.
The couple was married in the First Christian church in Elk City, Saturday, December 26. Rev. W. S. Parish, minister, read the double ring vows at 7 o'clock in the evening before an altar decorated with white mums and four seven-branched candelabra holding white tapers.
The bride is the former Miss Nettie Mae Sherwin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin R. Sherwin of Elk City, and Mr. Fitzsimmons is the son of Mrs. S. K. Fitzsimmons of Walters.
Following the ceremony, Mrs. Oscar Duke, organist, played a prelude of nuptial music and also accompanied Miss Edna Fern Turley when she sang "Wonderful One" and Because."
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a champagne colored dress of brocaded satin, fashioned with a V-neckline, short sleeves trimmed with mink, and a circular skirt. Her shoulder-length veil was of tulle and lace. She carried a white Bible topped with white carnations and satin streamers.
Miss Doris Faye Stewart, Norman, was maid of honor. Her dress was of conga beige silk faille, with which she more matching accessories. She carried an arm bouquet of pink carnations.
Candlelighter was Miss Freda Daugherty, Walters, niece of the bridegroom. She was attired in a sky blue silk faille dress with matching accessories.Her wristlet was of pink carnations.Morris Gray, Muskogee, served the bridegroom as best man. Ushers were Joe Miller and Harold Damron.
The bride's parents were hosts at a reception in the church parlor after the ceremony. Crystal and silver appointments were used on the serving table, which was laid with a lace cloth. Mrs. William Mouser presided at the punch bowl, and Mrs. Bill Springer served the cake, assisted by Mrs. Mayme Patterson. Miss Betty Hood Oklahoma City, presided at the guest register.
When the couple left on a wedding trip, Mrs. Fitzsimmons was wearing a gray wool sharkskin dressmaker's suit with gray and gold accessories.
