Helen Bernice Shedd and Clifford Ernest Shofstall

CLIFFORD ERNEST SHOFSTALL, son of ANNABELLE HOWLAND and WILLIAM MEANS SHOFSTALL, was born September 14, 1890 in Paola, Kansas,1710 and died July 28, 1933 in St. Lukes Hospital, Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri.706 He is buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri.706

He married HELEN BERNICE SHEDD on September 17, 1913 in Ashland, Saunders, Nebraska,1710, 5656 daughter of KATHERINE LEIGH GRAVES and LT. GOV. HIBBARD HOUSTON SHEDD. She was born July 16, 1886 in Ashland, Saunders, Nebraska,4806 and died January 27, 1967 in Winnetka, Cook, Illinois.4806 She is buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri.4806

The wedding of Miss Helen Bernice Shedd of Ashland, Neb., to Clifford Ernest Shofstall of Kansas City, Mo., occurred at three o'clock Wednesday afternoon, September 17, at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. H. H. Shedd in Ashland. The Van Dyke service was used, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Joseph Tones of the First Congregational church of Ashland. The bride wore her traveling suit of Saxe blue poplin and there were no attendants. She carried a corsage bouquet of pink roses and lilies of the valley. Pink asters in tall baskets on pedestals, ferns and vining asparagus were used profusely in the decorations. After the ceremony, refreshments were served at individual tables, the pink color scheme prevailing throughout.

Mr. and Mrs. Shofstall left in the evening for an extended western trip and after November 1 will be at home in Kansas City where Mr. Shofstall is engaged in business. Mr. Shofstall is a nephew of Dr. and Mrs. C. K. Kirkpatrick of Ashland. Mrs. Shofstall attended the University of Nebraska and was a prominent member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

Among the out of town guests in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Edward R. Sizer of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hurd of Council Bluffs, Mr. and Mrs. Shofstall, Miss Elsie Shofstall and Messrs. Clifford Shofstall, a well known grain man of Kansas City, was married to miss Helen Bernice Shedd, of Ashland, Neb., recently. The marriage came as a surprise to grain men, who thought that Mr. Shofstall was merely making a business expedition. The couple left for the West on an extended honeymoon immediately after the knot was tied. Mr. Shofstall is a son of W. M. Shofstall, of the Fowler Grain Company.

CLIFFORD SHOFSTALL DIES.

The Hay Shipper Had Been Ill Only a Week.

Clifford E. Shofstall, 42 years old, 4935 State Line, a hay shipper widely known at the stockyards, died today at St. Luke's hospital following a week's illness. Mr. Shofstall was operated upon several days ago for acute appendicitis. Seemingly on the way to recovery, he suffered a heart attack today which caused his death.

Mr. Shofstall was a member of a pioneer Kansas City family which lived for years at 3820 Genesee street. He was a member of the Roanoke Presbyterian church, Westport lodge No. 340, A. F. and A. M., Westport chapter Royal Arch Masons and the Ararat Shrine. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen B. Shofstall of the home; his mother, Mrs. Anna B. Shofstall, 3820 Genesee street; six brothers, Dr. Charles K. Shofstall, 3820 Genesee street; Frank P. Shoftstall, 3809 Terrace avenue; Ralph W. Shofstall, 204 East Sixty-seventh street; Howard Shofstall, Los Angeles, Cal.; Richard B. Shofstall, Kearney, Neb., and William J. Shofstall, Indianapolis, Ind., and two sisters, Mrs. Clement S. Scott, 4165 Cambridge avenue, Kansas City, Kansas, and Miss Esther Shofstall, 3820 Genesee street.
