The members of last year's University of Nebraska foot ball team met last week and elected George Shedd as captain for the next year. The selection is certainly a very good one, as Mr. Shedd has not only been the most brilliant and reliable player on the team for the past two years, but its very soul and life. During that time he played right half. He is a bright, cool-headed player, and holds the confidence of the entire team. Mr Shedd is only 18 years old, and learned his first foot ball on the Ashland High school team, so that he is truly a simon pure Nebraska product, in whom we can all take a little extra interest.

George Shedd, captain of the 1897 Corhnhusker football team, and novelist, whose home was in Los Angeles, died Friday of a heart attack.
John Westover, who played with Shedd, declared the latter was one of the "finest men I've ever known."
"Shedd," westover continued, "was not an outstanding player, but he was the steady , dependable type. I don't think he ever weighed over 175 pounds but he played full back and that's an indication of the type of man he was. In those days a 175 pound fullback was the exception, practially all of them being 200 pounders."
