Sixty Persons Attend Reception At Snyder Home

An estimated 60 persons attended an open-house Saturday afternoon at the Bridgeport home of Mr. and Mrs. David Snyder in honor of Mr. and Mrs. David Snyder and family who spent a week here, visiting from California.

The guests of honor returned Sunday afternoon to the Livingston Manor home of Mrs. Snyder where they will spend several days, returning to Richmond, Calif., Thursday.

Earlier last week Mr. and Mrs. Hugh B. Snyder and the families of their sons motored to Conneaut, Ohio to take part in a reunion of the Stanley family, returning to entertain members of the family at their Kasoag Lake camp on Wednesday.

Among those attending the Saturday open house were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ball, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Long, Mr. and Mrs. William Leaman, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Seidenfuss, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sheldon, the Rev. and Mrs. Baden P. Mudge, Mrs. Helen Herman, Miss Matie Nichols, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Ladd, Mr. and Mrs. Ethel Bitz, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Fickelsen.

Miss Belle Bar, Mr. and Mrs. Rowland Pierson, Mr. and Mrs. James Nolan, Mrs. Jane Kesselring, Mr. and Mrs. Evilyn Bown, Mr. and Mrs. David Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh B. Snyder, Frank C. Snyder, Miss Joyce Buckland, Mr. and Mrs. Blake of Fulton, and Lina Breakey, also of Fulton and many others.

Earlier, Mr. and Mrs. John Miller and their three daughters of Warren, Ohio were guests at the Snyder home. Miller is a former resident of Bridgeport.

Mrs. Phoebe Snyder Dies

Mrs. Hugh (Phoebe) Snyder, 81 years of age, at Conneaut, Ohio died March 13 in Ashtabula Nursing HOme following a long illness. Former longtime resident of Bridgeport, and Syracuse.

She was a retired employee of E.W. Edwards of Syracuse, New York.

Member and Past Matron of the Minoa Chapter, N. 705, O.E.S. Member and Honorary Past Matron, Rose Chapter, O.E.S, Conneaut, Ohio. Former active member Bridgeport United Methodist Church and W.S.C.S.

Mrs. Snyder is survived by her husband, Hugh of 276 West St. Conneaut, Ohio. Two sons, David H. of El Sobrante, California and Hugh S. of Sacramento, California. One brother, Wilbur Stanley, of Toledo Ohio and one sister, Mrs. Willard (Myra) Ewing, Miami, Ohio.

Ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, four nieces and one nephew.

Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Stanley of Cleveland, Ohio and a son Daniel S. Snyder of Bridgeport, New York.

Services were held at Marcy Funeral Home, March 16, Conneaut, Ohio by the Reverend Lawrence Hastie, Pastor Amboy Methodist Church.

Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery Conneaut, Ohio.

Hugh Snyder died March 15

Hugh B. Snyder, 86, of Conneaut, Ohio, died March 15 following a lingering illness. He had been hospitalized a week previously.

Snyder was born in Conneaut. He and his family moved to Bridgeport in 1926 where they operated the family farm on Hamilton Brown Road until 1947.

Snyder was a member of the First Methodist Church, of Conneaut. He was twice past master and a 50-year member of Nortrip Lodge F & AM *993, of Minoa.

Survivors include two sons, Hugh S. Snyder, of Ukiah, Cal., David H. Snyder, of El Sobrante, Cal., 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lois Snyder Parsons, of Bridgeport.

Masonic services were held by Evergreen Lodge, Conneaut, Ohio.

Funeral services were Friday with the Rev. David Freeman officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Conneaut, Ohio.
