Hyla Sue Carey

July 1, 1930 — Nov. 27, 2006

Hyla Sue Carey of Philomath died peacefully at home on Monday. She was 76.

She was born in Brownsville to Carl and Clara Springer. She grew up in Brownsville and graduated from Corvallis High School. After high school she received her beautician's license from Phagan's Beauty College in Salem.

She married Arthur "Bud" Carey on April 16, 1949. Bud preceded her in death in 2003.

In addition to spending time with her family, Hyla enjoyed gardening and playing with her dog, Ringo.

Survivors include daughters Linda Carey-Hoffman of Roseburg, Connie Carey of Philomath and Brenda Gardner of Salem, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Philomath Community Church, 145 N. 14th St.
