Soldier Wedding — Pvt. Robert M. Scott of the 157th field artillery, son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Scott of Williamstown, N. J., and Miss Rosella Marie Springer of Corvallis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Springer of Brownsville, wee wed in Corvallis Thursday, September 3, at 2:15 o'clock at the home of Rev. Edward Hart. They were attended by Pvt. Anthony Paccione and Mrs. Carol Clark, sister of the bride. Several others were present to witness the ceremony. The bride wore a floor length gown of wine velvet and deep pink taffeta with matching corsage and headdress. Mr. and Mrs. Scott will at present make their home in Corvallis.

PHILOMATH — Rosella Springer Powell of Philomath died Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was 73.
Born Sept. 16, 1915, in Crawfordsville to Carl and Clara Hughes Springer, she was raised in the Crawfordsville-Brownsville area.
She moved to Corvallis in 1945 and worked for J.C. Penny Company. In august 1950 she married and moved to Virginia. She returned to Corvallis in 1951 and moved to Philomath in 1955.
She enjoyed gardening and handcrafts.
She suffered a stroke in 1984, and has lived at a Corvallis nursing home since.
Surviving are her sisters, Carol Bartland of Corvallis, Bonnie Calhoun of Wickenburg, Ariz., Clara Putney of Arizona, and Hyla Carey of Philomath/ brother, Carl Springer of Junction City; and several nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at DeMoss-Durdan Garden Chapel. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Corvallis Oaklawn Memorial Park.
