Carol D. 'Honey' Bartland

Carol D. "Honey" Bartland of Corvallis died Friday, Oct. 23, at Heart of the Valley Care Center. She was 85.

She was born in Crawfordsville on April 25, 1913, the oldest of six children born to Carl and Clara (Hughes) Springer.

She moved to Corvallis in 1942, where she worked for a variety of businesses. She then moved to Eugene in 1949, where she married Arthur Bartland in 1955.

She enjoyed sharing the fruits of her garden with her friends and neighbors, grew African violets and won many ribbons and awards with her roses. She also won an award for one of her paintings.

She and Arthur enjoyed fishing at the coast and up the McKenzie River. Arthur died in 1985. Carol returned to Corvallis the next year. She was a member of the Jehovah's witnesses.

Survivors include daughter Darlene Boggs of Philomath; sisters Hyla Carey of Philomath, and Bonnie Calhoun and Clara Putney, both of Arizona; grandson Randy Rayburn of Corvallis; granddaughter Vicky Wilkerson of Philomath; stepgrandson Steven Boggs of Philomath; stepdaughter Wanda Lundgren of Alsea; stepson Wayne Bartland of Hillsboro; and numerous stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband Arther; sister Rosella Powell; brother Carl Springer; and grandson Terry Boggs.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the funeral home with Mr. Bruce Hamm conducting. Private vault interment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Memorials are suggested to a Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses, care of DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home, 815 N.W. Buchanen, Corvallis OR 97330.
