Merle Staley Dies in Vernon

Merle Staley, 59, of Vernon, former Childress resident, died at 10 a.m. Sunday in Vernon.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Vernon.

Born Jan. 14, 1906, in Vernon, he graduated from Vernon high school in 1925 and attended Clarendon Junior College. He was married to Agnes Kegan of Abiline of July 5,1940. He was a member of Central Christian Church and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors are his wife, a son, Lt. Ronald Staley of Washington, D. C.; a brother, Theron of Vernon; and a sister, Mrs. R. J. Hawk of Abiline.

While here he operated an appliance store.
