He married DOROTHY ELIZABETH CHRONISTER on May 14, 1949 in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, York County, Pennsylvania.11901 She was born March 25, 1922 in East Berlin, York, Pennsylvania,11902 and died September 4, 2012 in Lancaster, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.11902 She is buried in Mount Rose Cemetery, Spring Garden Township, York, Pennsylvania.456

NUPTIALS HELD FOR DOROTHY CHRONISTER

Miss Dorothy E. Chronister, daughter of Mrs. William Chronister, 34 Dewey street, became the bride of Clarence E. Stambaugh, son of Willis C. Stambaugh, 131 North West street, at 3 o'clock this afternoon in St. Matthew's Lutheran church. The Rev. Gordon Folkemer performed the double ring ceremony. The church was decorated with palms and flowers.

The bride was given in marriage by her brother, George M. Chronister. She wore a slipper satin gown with a sweetheart neckline trimmed with seed pearls, bustle back and skirt ending in a train. Her finger tip veil fell from a bonnet effect headdress trimmed in seed pearls. Her flowers were white roses, carnations and lily-of-the-valley.

Mrs. Glenn Crowl was the matron of honor. She wore a pink gown with a sweetheart neckline and bustle back. Her long mitts matched her gown and she wore a picture hat. She carried a cascade of spring flowers.

The best man was Sherman E. Stambaugh, brother of the bridegroom. Serving as the ushers were William A. Chronister, Jr., brother of the bride, and John W. Bupp, brother-in-law of the bridegroom.

The organist, E. E. Schroeder, played the following selections:

"Because" (d'Hardelot), "Indian Love Call" (Friml), "Dream of Love" (Liszt), "Venetian Love Song" (Nevin) and "I Love Thee" (Greig).

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Pine Tree inn. Upon their return from a wedding trip through the South, the couple will reside in their newly furnished apartment at 34 Dewey street.

The bride is a graduate of William Penn Senior High school. She is employed at York Tabulating Service, Inc. THe bridegroom, who served four years in the U. S. navy, is employed as a sales representative of C. R. Minnich company.

Dorothy E. Stambaugh

MANCHESTER

Dorothy E. Stambaugh, 90, died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday at Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster. She was the wife of Clarence E. Stambaugh.

Born March 25, 1922 in East Berlin, a daughter of the late William A. and Emma J. (Weigel) Chronister, she worked for Continental Wire and retired from Ericsson. She was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Manchester, and was a former member of the American Business Woman's Association. She also was a former President of the PTA, and worked as Secretary for Manchester Borough and had served on the Election Board for many years.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Stambaugh is survived by two sons, Scott A. Stambaugh, and his wife, Winifred, of Alexandria, Virginia, and Steven R. Stambaugh of Holtwood; and a granddaughter, Emily Stambaugh. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan L. Stambaugh; and one sister; and five brothers.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 S. Main St., Manchester, with her Pastor, the Rev. Greg B. Lindsey, officiating. Viewing will be 9 to 1- a.m. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery, with military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Clarence E. Stambaugh, 96, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the residence of his niece in Hellam. He was the husband of the late Dorothy E. (Chronister) Stambaugh.

Born January 6, 1921 in Dover Township, one of ten children of the late Willis C. and Minnie E. (Zeigler) Stambaugh, he was retired from Herculite Products, and prior to that was an Electronics Technician and Electrician. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Manchester, and was a former member of the Amateur Radio Club. He was also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Mr. Stambaugh is survived by two sons, Scott A. Stambaugh of Alexandria, VA, and Steven R. Stambaugh of Holtwood; a granddaughter, Emily Alexander and her husband, Sidney; a great grandson, Sidney Alexander IV; a brother, Harold Stambaugh; and two sisters, Dorothy Bupp and Mildred Petkus. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jan L. Stambaugh.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday June 14, 2017 at Mount Rose Cemetery with his Pastor, The Rev. Edwina Landry, officiating. Military honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 S. Main St., Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
