Sherman E. Stambaugh

Sherman E. Stambaugh, 72, of 414 N. Forrest St., a retired hardware consultant, died 7:35 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 1983, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Marianna V. (Miller) Stambaugh.

The service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church, 29 S. George St. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 29 S. George St., York, 17401, or to York Unit of the American Cancer Society, 28 S. Queen St., York, 17403. The Heffner Funeral Home of York Inc., 1701 W. Market St., is in charge of arrangements.

Born at Admire, son of the late Willis and Minnie (Ziegler) Stambaugh, he had retired in 1976 after 40 years with Fulton Mehring and Hauser Co., where he was a hardware consultant. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where he was on the church council and chairman of the property committee.

He held membership in the National Hardware Institute, the Disable American Veterans Chapter 28, the Dallastown American Legion Post, the White Rose Philatelic Society, the Emigsville Band, the Dallastown American Legion Band, American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 1578 and the National Rifle Association.

Mr. Stambaugh also is survived by a son, Charles E. Stambaugh, Fayetteville, Franklin County; four sisters, Pauline Moul, 1315 N. George St., Evelyn Paules, 507 Atlantic Ave.; Dorothy Bupp, 711 Pacific Ave., and Mildred Shrum, Magnolia, N.J.; four brothers, W. Clair Stambaugh, 19 Loucks St., Manchester; Clarence Stambaugh, 54 N. Main St., Manchester, Ray Stambaugh, Wrightsville RD 1, and Harold Stambaugh, Hatboro, Montgomery County.

Officiating will be his pastors, the Rev. Gene R. Stuckey St. and the Rev. Millard H. Stiles.
