Couple Wed 40 Years

Mr. and Mrs. Luther F. Stambaugh, 316 Roosevelt Ave., were recently feted at a surprise party on the occasion of their 40th wedding anniversary. Eighty-five relatives and friends attended the party at Calvary Lutheran Church Social Room, Dover.

Mrs. Stambaugh is the daughter of the late Mrs. Carrie Nesbitt. Mr. Stambaugh is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey C. Stambaugh of Dover.

They were married May 19, 1933, by the Rev. Dr. Allan Meck, former pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ. Mr. Stambaugh is a retired employe of Allis-Chalmers Corp.

YORK - Luther F. Stambaugh, 95, of Fox Ridge Manor in Dover, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Manor Care Health Services South. He was the husband of the late Gretna P. (Harlacher) Stambaugh.

The service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church, 9 N. Main St., Dover. Burial will be in Salem Union Cemetery. Viewing will be 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. The Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stambaugh was born Dec. 1, 1903, in Jackson Township. He was the son of the late Harvey C. and Naomi Ruth Stambaugh.

He was a crane operator at Allis Chalmbers, retiring in 1968 after 33 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and honorary member of Vigilant Social Club.

Mr. Stambaugh is survived by a sister, Ethel R. Laird; and nieces and nephews.

Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. David J. Kovach.
