Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stanley of Neillsville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 2. THey will be honored at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Stanley, in Granton.
Roy Stanley, son of Esther and Charles Stanley, and Eva E. Counsell, daughter of Mary and Thomas Counsell, were married June 1, 1918, in the First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield.
The Rev. F. H. Ambrose officiated and Paul Wolf, now deceased, and Mrs. John Counsell were the attendants.
Mr. Stanley was born March 30, 1893, in the twn of Grant, Clark County. He attended Reed School and prior to his marriage, hauled cream for the old Pleasant Ridge Creamery and later milk in the Neillsville Condensery.
Mrs. Stanley was born in the town of Ashippun, Dodge County, Aug. 10, 1898. She was four months old when her parents located on a farm in Grant township. She also attended Reed School and was graduated from Neillsville High School and teachers training school in 1917. The following year she taught school in Cannonville.
After marriage, the couple farmed and continue to operate a dairy farm. mr. Stanley is in partial retirement, keeping but a few dairy cows and a large herd of beef cattle.
He served for several years as clerk of the Washington School district and his wife, a member of the United Methodist Church and the Woman's Society of Christian Service, has held several offices and is the current recording secretary of the society. She is also a member and chairman of Esther Circle of the church.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley are the parents of a son, Allen, of Granton, and three daughters—Mrs. Dave (Jean) Krutsch, town of Washburn; Mrs. Gale (Mardene) Burnett, Sparta, and Mrs. Thomas (Ruth) Jacobs, Wausau. All will be present with their families for the celebration Sunday.
The couple also has six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

NEILLSVILLE — Services for Roy Stanley, 84, of 201 Oak St. will be at 2 p.m. wednesday at the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, the Rev. William Noble officiating. Mr. Stanley died Friday evening at Neillsville Memorial Home.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday and until services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Stanley was born March 30, 1893 in the town of Grant, Clark County, where he attended schools. He farmed most of his life in the town of Grant and also was a milk hauler and drove livestock trucks for his son, Allen, for several years.
He served on the Washington School Board. On June 1, 1918, he married Eva Counsell in Marshfield. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Dave (Juan) Krutsch, Neillsville; Mrs. Gale (Mardene) Bernett, Sparta; and Mrs. Thomas (Ruth) Jacobs of Wausau; one son, Allen C., Neillsville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sons in infancy, two brothers and two sisters.

NEILLSVILLE — Mrs. Roy E. (Eva) Stanley, 85, of 315 Court St., died at 11:05 p.m. Saturday at Neillsville Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard M. Ott officiating. Burial will be in Neillsville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday until 11:30 a.m. at Gesche Funeral Home, and then for one hour before services at the church.
The former Eva Counsell was born Aug. 10, 1898 in Dodge County, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P. (Mary Jane Walker) Counsell. She moved to the Town of Grant with her parents and received her elementary education at the Reed School. She was a graduate of Neillsville High School and Neillsville Teachers Training in 1917. She was a former teacher at Cannonville School in the Town of Washburn.
On June 1, 1918 in Marshfield she was married to Roy Stanley. He died Jan. 27, 1978. Following their marriage they farmed in the Town of Grant for many years, retiring in 1974 and moving to Neillsville.
A member of United Methodist Church and its Martha Circle of United Methodist Woman, and Pleasant Ridge Homemakers Club, Mrs. Stanley is survived by three daughters, Mrs. David (Jean) Krutsch of Granton, Mardene Stanley of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Mrs. Thomas (Ruth) Jacobs of Wausau; a son, Allen C. Stanley of Neillsville; a brother, Marvin Counsell of Neillsville; and six great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by triplet sons in infancy and three brothers, Elmer, John and Kenneth.
