Obituaries

Neillsville Press, December 8, 19214902

Charles Frank Stanley, one of the old residents of the town of Grant, died at his home in that town Dec. 1, aged 74 years, one month and 27 days. He was born at Newton Falls, Ohio., Oct. 4, 1847. When 20 years of age he came to Wisconsin and worked for two years at Ft. Atkinson. Later he lived in Maruette County 9 years. In 1871 he came to Clark County and settled in the town of Grant. Oct. 24, 1875, he was married to Miss Esther Ann Sears, who survives him. They developed their farm home by hand work. In late years Mr. Stanley’s health was not good and his failing strength prevented his taking an active part in farm work. He was a man of good principles, honest, patriotic and a good husband and father. To him and his wife were born six children. Frank, the oldest son died in the Spanish war in Porto Rica. Guy is also deceased. There are left Mrs. Walter Lilygren of St. Paul, Mrs. Paul Wolff and Leon and Roy Stanley of Neillsville. He leaves also five grandchildren. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, at the Congregational church, Rev. G. W. Longenecker preaching the funeral sermon.
