Mrs. A. J. Sutherland, 55, of 3260 Milwaukee st., Madison, died Saturday in her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Sutherland was born in Madison and was married in June of 1929. She was the former Margurite Seim.
She was a graduate of East high school and a member of St. Bernard's Catholic parish.
Survivors include her husband; two son, Rodney of Rt. 1, Madison and Jack David at home; two daughters, Mrs.. Robert Mullarkey of Lodi; and Mrs. Howard Uphouse of Richmond, Ind. a siter, Mrs. Lillian Robinson, Madison; three brothers, Edwin Seim, Madison; Gerald of Manitowoc; John P. of Cottage Grove; and nine grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending at the Fautschi funeral home, 120 E. Wilson st., Madison.

MADISON — A.J. "Jack" Sutherland, died on Wednesday, February 9, 1995 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Burke, South Dakota on May 25, 1909 to Hyland and Nina Sutherland. They moved to Madison in 1919. Jack attended Madison Central High School. He had a 63 year career in the paint business in Madison starting in 1928 with Mautz Paint. He then opened his own store on Atwood Ave., and began working at the C & P Plaza in 1960. He continued to work until 1991 when he retired at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; six children, Jack (Andrea) Sutherland and John Erickson, of Madison, Debra (Harlan) Hettrick, of McFarland, Joyce (Robert) Mullarkey, of Lodi, Rodney (Lita) Sutherland, of Albany and Marjorie (Howard) Uphaus, of Ojibwa, Wisconsin; a sister, Katherine (W.T.) Crow, of Phoenix, Ariz.; seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marg in 1965, and also by two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, Gardens of Eternal Peace Chapel, 501 Femrite Dr. at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 1995. Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 1995 at Gunderson Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Dr.
