HENRY W. SYLVESTER, 94, DIES IN SOUTH DAKOTA

Albany — Henry W. Sylvester, 94, Civil War veteran and a former Green county resident died in his home at Hot Springs, S. D. His parents were Amos and Lucinda Wood Sylvester, pioneer settlers of Sylvester township, his grandfather, Amos R. Sylvester, for whom the town was named was one of the first settlers of Green county. Mr. Sylvester was born July 27, 1840, west of Albany in Sylvester township. He married Miss Emily Phillips, they left this vicinity 51 years ago and moved to Dakota. He was the last one of four brothers all of whom were Civil War veteran's, a brother Moses Sylvester, a resident of Albany for 18 years and one of Albany's veterans, died five years ago. Survivors are 4 children: Mrs. Lora Samuelson, Mrs. Ida Christenson, Clara Sylvester, G. H. Sylvester, all of Hot Springs. Mrs. Eugene Laughridge and Mrs. Charles Purinton, of this vicinity are nieces of the deceased. Funeral services and burial was at Hot Springs.
