Helen Vinton

Helen L. Vinton, 74, 1420 McKinley Rd., Eau Claire, passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, at the Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home.

Helen was born Jan. 21, 1923, to Edward and Helen (Matysik) Eisberner in Jackson County. She married Edward F. Vinton March 6, 1944, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fairview.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; eight daughters, Christine (David) Wigchers of Cumberland, Monica (Jim) Glinski of Stratford, Sr. Maria Vinton of Tomahawk, Jessica (Carl) Waite and Johnette (John) Reed, both of Wausau, Thomasine (Bill) Sorenson of Eau Claire, Jacinta Rohrman of Chippewa Falls and Tonita (Bill) Draper of Janesville; three sons, Michael (Bev) and John, both of Keystone, S.D., and Joseph (Vicki) of Eau Claire; three sisters, Dorothy (Walter) Henkle of DeSmet, S.D., Gertrude (Ivan) Durst of Neillsville and Elaine Fisherner of Sunnyvale, Calif., a brother Edward (Betty) Eisberner of Eau Claire; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Peter and Joel, a sister, Mary Frank; three brothers, Joseph, Donald and Lawrence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Olaf's Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Corradi officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Fairchild.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home where there will be a 5:30 p.m. prayer vigil. Friends may also call one half hour before services Thursday at the church.

Edward Vinton

Edward F. Vinton, age 92, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Ministry Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley, WI.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Fairchild, WI. Military rites will be conducted by the Carl Nelson American Legion Post 324 of Osseo/Fairchild. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 o.m. at Thorp Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service, at the church.

Edward Franklin Vinton was born the sixth child of Edward and Jennie (Cameron) Vinton on October 11, 1920, in Eau Claire, WI. In his senior year of high school, Ed moved to Neillsville, WI, where he graduated high school in 1940. He was well known in the area as "Skinny." He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on January 17, 1941, and served his country during World War II. On March 6, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Helen Lorraine Eisberner of Fairchild, WI. After working for National Presto Industries for 18 years, and John Deere Factory for 5 years, he became an independent U.S. Mail contractor in 1960. He drove his mail truck daily from Eau Claire to Cadott, Boyd, Stanley, Thorp and back to Eau Claire at night. During the day he was the manager of Thorp's Midland Service Station, delivered oil to local farmers and drove school bus for a time, before his retirement in 1982. Ed and Helen were founding members of St. Olaf's Catholic Parish in Eau Claire.

He is survived by his 11 remaining children, Christine (David) Wigchers of Cumberland, WI, Michael (Bev) Vinton of Drake, ND, Monica (Jim) Glinski of Stratford, WI, Sister Maria Vinton SSM of Merrill, WI, Jessica (Carl) Waite of Thorp, WI, John (Elizabeth) Vinton of San Diego, CA, Johnnette (John) Reed of Thorp, WI, Thomasine (Bill) Sorenson of Eau Claire, WI, Joseph (Vickie) Vinton of Eau Claire, WI, Jacinta Rohrman of Chippewa Falls, WI, Tonita Draper of Brodhead, WI; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; nephews; and his dear friend and companion Helen Kouba of Thorp, WI, and her daughter, Mary Ellen, and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1997; two sons, Peter in 1960 and Joel in 1988; his parents; three sisters and two brothers.
