He married MARTHA CHILTON RUCKER on April 21, 1923 in Marshall, Saline, Missouri,¹⁰⁷¹⁸ daughter of LULA BELLE IRVINE and JAMES HENRY RUCKER. She was born November 26, 1893 in Blackwater, Cooper, Missouri,⁴⁵³² and died October 31, 1991.⁴⁵³² She is buried in Old Lamine Cemetery, Cooper County, Missouri.⁴⁵⁶

Young-Rucker Marriage

Mr. James Challis Young of La Monte, and Miss Martha Chilton Rucker of Blackwater, were married Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 p. m. at the Baptist parsonage, by Rev. E. A. Love. The bride has been teaching school at one of the rural schools south of town.

DINNER ON SILVER WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. J. Challis Young celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary with a family dinner Sunday at their home. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Rucker and son Ray, and Mrs. John N. Sims, all of Blackwater; Mr. M. L. Smith of Kansas City; Miss Ruth Rucker of Marshall; and Miss Ruth Ann Young, home from C.M.S.C. at Warrensburg for the week-end. Miss Nola Barrow was an afternoon caller. Miss Barrow and Mr. Smith were attendants at the wedding of Miss Martha Rucker and Mr. Challis Young, which occurred at the Baptist parsonage on April 21, 1923, Rev. Elmer Love officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. Young Received gifts of silver and flowers.
