MARKLE—STAUFFER

Ira W. Markle, son of Mr. and Mrs Albert Markle, Linden avenue, and Miss Ada C. Stauffer, daughter of Nelson K. Stauffer, 817 York street, were married last evening at 8 o'clock at the home of the bride by the Rev. Dr. Marsby J. Roth. They were attended by Miss Jordiana Masemore and Thomas K. Ketterman. The bridegroom is a carpenter employed by Hoffman Brothers' Building contractor. For the present they will reside at the home of the bride. The families and a few intimate friends of Mr. and Mrs. Markle witnessed the ceremony.

Ira w. Markle

Ira W. Markle, 91, of 2990 Carlisle Pike, died Monday , Nov. 8, 1999, at The Brethren Home in New Oxford. He was the husband of Ada (Stauffer) Markle.

Born Feb. 25, 1908, in Hanover, he was the son of the late David A. and Catherine (Morelock) Markle.

He owned and operated the Ira W. Markle Construction Co. in Silver Spring, Md. for 20 years. He was a building inspector in Montgomery County, Md., for 20 years.

Surviving also are a son, Donald E. Markle of Gettysburg; a daughter, Mary L. Roberts of Red Feather Lake, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Zinn of Dillsburg; and a brother, John Markle of Westminster, Md.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Brethren Home Chapel, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at The Brethren Home. Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Ada C. Markle

Ada C. Markle, 92, of 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at the Brethren Home Community. She was the wife of Ira W. Markle, who died in 1999.

Born July 262, 1907, in Jefferson, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Lillie (Myers) Stauffer.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hanover.

Surviving are a son, Donald E. Markle of Gettysburg; a daughter, Mary L. Roberts of Red Feather Lake, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Brethren Home Community Chapel, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford. rev. Betty Malenke and Rev. Julian Hull will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Brethren Home immediately following the services. Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, is in charge of the arrangements.
