Geraldine L. Ramsey
Mrs. Robert (Geraldine L. "Gerry") Ramsey, 84, of Morris, Ill., passed away peacefully with her loving family at her bedside Sunday afternoon, Dec. 30, 2012, in Pleasant View Luther Home in Ottawa, Ill.
Born Jan. 13, 1928, in Pontiac, Ill., the daughter of William P.. and Mabel McClaskey Campbell, Gerry married the love of her life, Robert W. "Bob" Ramsey on Dec. 16, 1944, in the Presbyterian Church in Pontiac, Ill.
She was very active in her children's lives. She served as a Cub Scout leader. She volunteered her time and services with the Morris Hospital Auxiliary, as a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 3544 in Morris, and lifetime member of the Grundy County Rod & Gun Club.
She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morris. She served as a youth group leader and also served her church family as an elder and deacon.
Surviving are her four loving children, Bob, and his wife Lin, Ramsey of Bristol, Va.; Greg (and his friend Mary Ann Schaefer) Ramsey, Doug and his life, Lisa Ramsey, and Cheryl, and her husband, Ron, Eltrevoog, all of Morris; seven grandchildren, Jamie (Errol) Lain, Shane (Glenna) Ramsey, Darren (Sandy) Sheedy, Eric (Jill) Rodriguez, Shanna Ramsey, Jacob Ramsey and Tonya and Angie Rolando; 14 great-grandchildren, Josh and Ryan Lain, Kailee, Brooke and Avery Ramsey, Kayley (Thomas) McDonald, Courtney Sheedy, Jessie, Wyatt and Bella Rodriguez, Schyler and Landyn Ramsey, Tyler Bourque; and Matt Woods; and one great-great-granddaughter, Alli Kay McDonald.
Also surviving are four sisters, Dorothy West of Bossier City, La., Martha McCutcheon of Pontiac, Mary Etta (Dean) Augsburger of Normal, Ill. and Pat Faust of Pontiac; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Jan. 10, 1996; one sister; and one brother.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at U. C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris, IL. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, in the First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Jackson St., Morris, with the Rev. Dr. Roy C. Backus officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Preferred form of remembrances would be memorial gifts in her name directed to the Morris Hospital Auxiliary of First Presbyterian Church.
