PONTIAC - Virginia E. Homme, 76, of 1038 W. Madison St., Pontiac, a restaurant/school cafeteria employee for nearly 50 years, died at 2:20 a.m. Monday (Nov. 14, 1994) at Saint James Hospital, Pontiac.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, the Rev. William H. Beswick officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Homme was born March 8, 1918, at Pontiac, a daughter of Louis and Myrtle Street Ramsey. She married John Garland in 1936. She married Gunder I. Homme Dec. 13, 1943, in Pontiac. He died July 12, 1968.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Hall, Cookeville, Tenn., and Marsha Halpin, Pontiac; four sons, Robert Garland, William Garland, Ole Homme and Tom Homme, all of Pontiac; five sisters, Mildred Buck, Lansing; Dorothy Rolphs, Parsons, Kan.; Ann Bush, Pompano Beach, Fla.; and Rebecca Grider and Bonnie Spence, both of Chenoa; four brothers, Russell "Ike" Ramsey, Chula Vista, Calif.; Ronald "Asher" Ramsey, Pompano Beach, Fla.; Robert Ramsey, Morris; and Marshall Wayne Ramsey, Ludington, Mich; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Two brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. Homme, who was educated in Pontiac schools, had been employed at the Square Cafe in Pontiac for 27 years. Later, she was employed for 20 years in the Pontiac School District cafeteria.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac and the Rebekah Lodge.
Memorials may be made to the Franciscan Hospice of Central Illinois or to a charity of the donor's choice.
