PONTIAC. — (PNS) — Howard Street, 59, of Marseilles, a native of Pontiac, died at Hines Hospital, Hines, at 4:30 p. m. Friday. He had been ill for two years.
The body was taken to Erwin Funeral Home, Pontiac, where funeral services will be at at 1:30 p. m. (daylight) Tuesday. Dr. A. B. Morrow will officiate. The Ottawa American Legion post will conduct services. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born July 3, 1891, at Pontiac, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey and Julia Garrett Street. He lived here for 51 years, then moved to Pontiac. He later moved to Marseilles. He retired two years ago from the contracting business.
He married Pearle Carrell in Cleveland, Tenn., Dec. 3, 1916.
He is survived by his wife; one son. M. Sgt. Chauncey Street, serving in Japan; five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Rainbelt of Leland; Mrs. Julia Faust of Indianola, Iowa, Mrs. Evelyn Hicks of Marseilles, Miss Louise Street, serving in Navy Air Corps at Norfolk, Va., and Miss Barbara Street of Hammond, Ind.; six sisters, Mrs. Della Conrad and Mrs. Mary Bruder, both of LaCrosse, Ind., Mrs. Mary Moreland of Secor, Mrs. Minnie Knudson, Mrs. Myrtle Ramsey and Mrs. Alberta Stang, all of Pontiac, and one brother, Delmar Street of Pontiac.
He was a member of the Ottawa American Legion post.

Pontiac Youth Killed Instantly When He and Pal Play with Gun
Not Known Who Fired The Fatal Shot
PONTIAC. — (PNS) — James Street, 14, was accidentally shot and killed at about 2 p. m. Saturday, when he and Orris Gene Evans, 13, were playing with a .22 calibre air rifle and .32 calibre pistol, in the apartment of Mr. and Mrs. William Babbington, 215 1/2 West Madison street, in the downtown business district. Mr. and Mrs. Babbington are the stepparents of the Evans lad.
It is reported that the two boys were inspecting the rifle and pistol, when the latter discharged, shooting the Street lad in the neck.
Falls Down Stairs.
He then staggered out of the apartment, collapsed at the top of the stairs and fell one flight to the sidewalk level on Madison street. He was found lying in the doorway by Howard Davies, 127 Park street, who turned him over and discovered that in spite of considerable loss of blood, he was still alive.
The lad gasped a few times and died.
Chief of Police James Loghry arrived soon after the death, followed a few minutes later by an ambulance from the Erwin funeral home. At that time a physician pronounced Street dead.
Inquest Monday.
The body was taken to the funeral home. An inquest has been tentatively scheduled for Monday night at the funeral home. Coroner P. L. McGuire has been notified, but had not impanelled a jury Saturday night.
The lad had preceded his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Street, down town. It had been arranged tha[t[ they would meet him in the business district to do some shopping. Mrs. Street arrived at the scene of the shooting, where a large crowd had gathered, before learning that it was her son who was the center of attraction. She became hysterical and was taken home by friends.
Evans Not Held.
At the time of the accident there was no one in the Babbington apartment, except the two boys. Young Evans was not held by the police.
According to tentative plans the funeral services will be held Tuesday, with burial in Livingston county memorial park.
James Howard Street was born in Pontiac in 1927. He was a student at Central grade school, and attended Salvation Army religious services.
Surviving are his parents; four sisters, Mrs. Ruth Rainboldt, Dwight; Mrs. Julia Bennett, Fairbury and Evely and Barbara Jane, at home, and two brothers, Louis, at home, and Chauncey of Chattanooga, Tenn.
