BAPTIST CHURCH PARSONAGE SCENE OF SUMMER WEDDING

The marriage of Miss Dorothy May Buvoltz of Onoville and Robert Roy Abbey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Abbey of Randolph, took place at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the parsonage of Randolph Baptist church. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ira Weyhe, pastor.

The bride wore a gown of pale blue Chantilly lace over white satin fashioned with long, pointed sleeves, tight fitted bodice with sweetheart neckline. Her head-dress was an off-the-face blue hat, trimmed with roses and veiling. She carried a white bible and her bridal corsage was red and white rosebuds. A three-strand pearl necklace, with earrings to match completed the ensemble.

Mrs. Robert Shaw, matron of honor for her sister, was gowned in pale blue flowered crepe, with white accessories. Her corsage was also of red and white rosebuds.

Robert Shaw was best man for Mr. Abbey.

The mother of the bride wore a navy flowered crepe dress, with white accessories. The bridegroom's mother also chose a navy flowered crepe gown, with black accessories. Both mothers wore red and white corsages.

After the ceremony a reception for 65 guests was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Shaw in Bunker Hill Road from 1:00 to 4:30 o'clock. Two three-tier wedding cakes had a prominent place in appointments for the buffet table. Mrs. Florence Gates, Mrs. Stephen Buvoltz, Mrs. Louise Abbey, Mrs. Edna Louck and Mrs. ? Shaw were aides.

The couple left for a week wedding trip in the vicinity of Philadelphia, and upon their return will make their home in Randolph where both are employed, Mrs. Abbey in the Danahy-Faxon Store and Mr. Abbey at the Randolph Foundry.

Guests were present from Illinois, Pennsylvania, Onovill, Steamburg and Randolph.

Robert R. Abbey dies in accident at fifty-two

Robert R. Abbey, 52 of R.D. 1, Randolph, was pronounced dead on arrival at W.C.A. Hospital in Jamestown at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct.9, 1980 after falling from an apple tree in Conewango. Mr. Abbey and his son were picking apples when the accident occurred.

He was born May 11, 1928, in the town of Randolph, the son of Walter and Mildred Clark Abbey.

Mr. Abbey was employed at Marlin Rockwell Div. of TRW Inc. in Jamestown where he had worked for 30 years. He served as union steward for UAW.

He was a member of First Baptist Church.

He had served in the U.S. Navy from April 1946 to February 1948.

He was married on July 23, 1950, to Dorothy M. Buvoltz, who survives. Also surviving are his mother, Mildred Abbey of Randolph; two sons, Harry Abbey and Randy Abbey of Randolph; two brothers, James and Frederick Abbey of Randolph, four sisters, Edna Loucks of Conewango Valley, Joyce Reynolds and Shirley Abbey, Randolph, Elsie Picket of San Jose, Calif. and two granddaughters.

The funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Lee Einfeldt, pastor of First Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Randolph Cemetery.

Bearers were James Alwood, Wayne Buvoitz, David Abbey and John, Tim and Paul Cowen.

Van Rennselaer & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
