Stanley "Jim" Abbey, 69, of 4441 Elm Creek Road, Randolph, died Saturday, March 16, 1996, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
He was born July 29, 1926, in North East, Pa., the son of Walter and Mildred Clark Abbey.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Abbey served with the U.S. Navy. Prior to retirement he was employed as a plant manager of Acolian Corp. in Randolph, retiring in 1986. He was also a self-employed painter. He was a member of the Randolph American Legion Post 181, Randolph Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6533 and the Randolph Moose Lodge 2273 in East Randolph.
Surviving are his wife Rose Marie Cook Abbey whom he married March 25, 1971; a son, Stanley Abbey Jr. of Red Oak, Calif.; a daughter, Cheryl Bjorkdahl of Camarillo, Calif.; three stepdaughters: Laura Schrader of Randolph, Vicki Flood of Falconer and Jennifer Breit of East Stroudsberg, Pa.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Frederick Abbey of Falconer; and three sisters: Joyce Reynolds and Shirley Abbey of Randolph and Elsie Pickett of San Jose, Calif.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Abbey, who died in 1980; and a sister, Edna Loucks.
The funeral was Tuesday, March 19, in the Van Rennsselaer & Son Funeral Home. The Rev. David Stanley, retired pastor, officiated. Burial was in Randolph Cemetery.
Full military honors were conducted by the Randolph American Legion Post 181 in the funeral home on Monday.

Herrin — Phyllis L. Voss, 77, died 2:12 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2003, in Herrin Hospital.
Phyllis was born March 17, 1926, in Titusville, Pa.
She married Richard H. Voss. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1997.
She was a seamstress, bookkeeper and a restaurant manager, while she was employed.
She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary L. and Jeffrey B. Carruthers of Carterville; a daughter and her companion, Janet M. Voss and Steve Chrispen of Carbondale; a daughter, Abigail Lynn McMasters of Gardnerville, Nev.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Rick Bjorkdahl; a son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Jan Stanley of Oak Run, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Michael Scott Carruthers of Carterville, Elizabeth Rose Carruthers of Carterville, Joshua Reynolds of Carbondale, Richard Henry Walker of Carbondale, Tisha Bateman of Gardnerville, Nev., Scott Franklin Williamson of Camarillo, Calif., James Edward Williamson of Camarillo, Calif., and Molly Stanley of Oak Run, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Cory Richard Bateman of Gardnerville, Nev., Devon Rannee Bateman of Gardnerville, Nev., and Shalynn Williamson of Camarillo, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Lois and All Terry of Springfield; two nephews, Robin Terry of Auburn and Richard J. Terry of Chicago; and two extremely special cats, Muffin and Tuffy.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003 in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. The body will be cremated. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
