Stanley "Jim" Abbey, 69, of 4441 Elm Creek Road, Randolph, died Saturday, March 16, 1996, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
He was born July 29, 1926, in North East, Pa., the son of Walter and Mildred Clark Abbey.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Abbey served with the U.S. Navy. Prior to retirement he was employed as a plant manager of Acolian Corp. in Randolph, retiring in 1986. He was also a self-employed painter. He was a member of the Randolph American Legion Post 181, Randolph Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6533 and the Randolph Moose Lodge 2273 in East Randolph.
Surviving are his wife Rose Marie Cook Abbey whom he married March 25, 1971; a son, Stanley Abbey Jr. of Red Oak, Calif.; a daughter, Cheryl Bjorkdahl of Camarillo, Calif.; three stepdaughters: Laura Schrader of Randolph, Vicki Flood of Falconer and Jennifer Breit of East Stroudsberg, Pa.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Frederick Abbey of Falconer; and three sisters: Joyce Reynolds and Shirley Abbey of Randolph and Elsie Pickett of San Jose, Calif.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Abbey, who died in 1980; and a sister, Edna Loucks.
The funeral was Tuesday, March 19, in the Van Rennsselaer & Son Funeral Home. The Rev. David Stanley, retired pastor, officiated. Burial was in Randolph Cemetery.
Full military honors were conducted by the Randolph American Legion Post 181 in the funeral home on Monday.
