His son, Dr. Lynn Beals of Buffalo, has been with him since the previous Saturday, and with the resident physician, Dr. Wright, has made a big fight for his life, but skill did not avail. Mr. Beals' life has been an active one. In 1869 he was graduated from the Albany Normal School and for many years has been a successful teacher. He served one term from 1876-1879 as School Supt. For two years—1885-1887—he taught in Kansas. After coming back here he was the principal of the East-end School, Oneonta, from 1891 to 1897. He retured to his farm here a few years ago and has done scientific famring. In 1867 he married Mary E. Hall in East Randolph, N. Y., who has been a true help-mate to him. She taught with him many years. Two sons, Prof. Fred Beals of Newark, N. J., and Dr. Lynn Beals of Buffalo, with the wife, are grieving for the loss of one of the best of husbands and fathers. Since Sept., 1867, he has been a mamber of the Baptist Church, doing active work in the church and Sunday-school for nearly half a century, giving his influence and working for the upholding of God's Kingdom. As he grew older his interest in the news of the day did not cease. We mourn his loss.
