Tecumseh Chieftain, August 27, 194212421
The distressing information reached Tecumseh relatives that Mrs. Leo Bucy had died at Jefferson, Iowa, Tuesday morning, August 25, 1942, at the age of twenty-nine years, four months and two days. She had been failing for a number of weeks, had been given hospital treatment, and everything possible had been done to stay her life. Peritonitis was the immediate cause of death.
Mary Ileen Colton was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Colton of Tecumseh, and she was born at Steinauer on April 23, 1913. Most of her life had been spent here, the exception being the past five years, when she lived at Jefferson. She attended the local schools, and she was married to Mr. Bucy in June, 1931. Surviving, besides her husband and parents, are two brothers, Dale Colton of Tecumseh and Noland McIntosh of Greensburg, Kans., and a sister, Mrs. Ryle Martin of Denver, as well as other relatives and a host of admiring friends. Mrs. Bucy had always been very devoted to her parents, particularly so as her mother has not been well for a number of years. She would make frequent visits to Tecumseh, at least as often as once a month, to look to the welfare of her parents. It may also be said that she was a loving wife and sister, and took great pride in her home. Of her it may be said she was a most lovable woman, kind and considerate to all. She will be greatly missed by her husband, parents, brothers and sister, and by her friends. They have the sympathy of our people.
Services were held at Jefferson Wednesday afternoon, and the body was brought to Tecumseh, relatives living away coming for the rites. The funeral will be held at the Wherry chapel at 2:30 o'clock, Friday afternoon, and will be in charge of Rev. Mr. Reese of Jefferson, who conducted the services there. The interment will be in the Tecumseh cemetery.
