Berniece Evelyn (Bucy) Mason, 80, of 301 West Main, East Helena, Mont., died Monday evening, Oct. 21, 1996, at St. Peter's Community Hospital.
She was born May 30, 1916, in Talmage, Neb., to the late Arthur L. and Ida M. Bucy.
Berniece has been active in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and International Association of Rebekah Assemblies for over 50 years, starting in Townsend, Mont., and ending in East Helena with the Pansy Lodge. She served and held offices in local, state and national offices with the Rebekah Assemblies. She also was active with senior citizens and VFW auxiliary.
Berniece married William E. "Bill" Mason on March 17, 1935 in Townsend.
Survivors include her husband, Bill, of E. Helena; a daughter, Margaret A. Murray of Billings; two sisters, Reba Clevenger and Marguerite Roope both of East Helena; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Berneta Lingenfelter; two sisters, Mildred Newbold and Maxine Bucy; a grandson, Shawn Wells; and two brothers, LeRoy and Leo Bucy.
Chapel services will be Friday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m., at Hagler-Anderson Chapel with Pastor Dick Crosby of the Hannaford Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment of cremains will be at 2 p.m. at the Deep Creek Cemetery in Townsend. Family prefers memorials to the Lewis and Clark County Cancer Committee, P.O. Box 4494, Helena, MT 59604 or to donor's choice.

EAST HELENA — William E. "Bill" Mason of East Helena died early Saturday in St. Peter's Hospital, Helena.
Bill was born April 3, 1914, in Straw to the late Webster G. and Hattie M. Mason. He spent his early life on the Harold Marks Ranch near Townsend. He married Bernice Bucy March 17, 1935, in Townsend. They resided in Townsend until 1947. He was a hard rock miner above Winston and Hugsville. In 1948 he moved his family to East Helena where he worked for American Smelting and Refining as a furnace operator. Later he worked for Montana Meats as a meat cutter. He was active in senior citizens.
Bill loved the mountains and fishing streams where he could out-fish the best. In addition to his wife, Bernice, daughter Berneta, five brothers and one sister and one grandson preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Margaret A. Murray of Billings; grandsons, Steve Skains and Christian Murray both of Helena, Michael Lingenfelter of Butte, Terry Lingenfelter of Great Falls, Al Lingenfelter of Glendive; granddaughters, Debbie Stokes of Pendroy, Rhonda Wells of Las Vegas, Nev., Jeannie Melton of Bloomfield, N.M.; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hagler-Anderson Mortuary with Pastor Dick Crosby of the Hannaford Bible Church officiating. Interment of cremains will be at 3 p.m. in Deep Creek Cemetery near Townsend.
