Melzar G. Colton Is Illness Victim

Melzar Glenn Colton, 73, of the Betheny Lutheran Home died this morning in a local hospital following a len[g]thy illness.

He was born Jan. 5, 1883 in Colton and farmed in this vicinity most of his life, except for brief periods when he lived in Oklahoma and California. The town of Colton was named for a branch of the Colton family.

Mr. Colton was married to Cora Sheldon in Mitchell on Oct. 25, 1938.

Survivors are five sisters Mrs. C. H. Peterson, Brandn; Mrs. C. H. Coxe, Eugene, Ore.; Mrs. J. L. Coutts, Yuba City, Calif.; Mrs. Louis Todnem, Mankata, Minn., and Miss Esther Colton, Britton.

The Rev. R. Franklin Schwarm will officiate at funeral services for Melzar Glenn Colton, 73, at the Colton Methodist Church Saturday at 2 p.m. Mr. Colton, resident of the Bethany Lutheran Home, died Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Henry Mannes, Bernie Graff, Clarion and Meton Peterson, Percy Amundsen and Merle Willard. Burial will be in Colton Cemetery. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
