DEATH IS A RELIEF TO PATIENT SUFFERER

HOBART DEERING OF PARK ADDITION IS CALLED AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Hobart Deering, a well known resident of Park addition, died at an early hour yesterday morning at his home. Although death relieved him after a long period of suffering, his loss is keenly felt by many friends in this community, where he has lived for a number of years.

Hobart Deering was born at Jackson, Maine, March 27, 1852. He went to Boone county, Iowa, with his parents when 16 years of age. He received his education at Cornell college. In 1875 he was married to Millie Houston of Denmark, Iowa. He was in business in Iowa towns until 1902, with the exception of five years spent in Florida. His health began to fail and he spent two years in Colorado, where he became much better. Then he came to Missoula and engaged in the poultry business, but again his health failed and he had been an invalid for four years before the end came. He was patient and cheerful through it all, and expressed his readiness to go when the summons came. He belonged to no church organization, but was a Christian man—upright and honest in all his dealing with his fellow-men, his motto being: "Do as you would be done by." He was ever a kind-hearted, good neighbor.

He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, and one son, Harry H. Deering, an engineer, now living at Garrison; also two brothers, one in Maine and one in Atlantic, Iowa. The body will be taken to his old home in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and laid to rest in Forest Home cemetery beside that of a daughter, who passed away 13 years ago.
