Mrs. William P. Enright was hostess to a company of ladies on Wednesday afternoon to a miscellaneous shower given in honor of Miss Gertrude Gay who is to wed Mr. M. O. Stavaas of Fargo, North Dakota on August 10th. After the ladies assembled Miss Kate Stearns read an interesting poem of her own composition, telling of Miss Gay's adventures and lastly inviting Miss Gertrude to the dining room, where on a table was a silver tray filled with gifts for the bride-to-be. Each package was carefully opened and contents admired by all.
A good time of visiting was enjoyed.
Mrs. Enright assisted by the Misses Margaret Sanderson, Del Motte Oline and Marjorie Bengtson served a dainty two course luncheon.

A very pretty wedding was solemnized in the Central Lutheran Church of Minneapolis, Minn., when Gertrude Hope Gay, daughter of W. D. Gay of this city, was united in marriage to Mr. Martin O. Stavaas, the ceremony being performed by Rev. J. Melvin Moe of Fargo, N. D., on Friday evening, August the Tenth.
The couple left on a short trip by auto to visit several Lake resorts and then will proceed to Fargo, N. D. where Mr. Stavaas has a furnished home for his bride.
Miss Gay is an accomplished violinist and has played at many important gatherings in Essex as well as other places. For the last few years she has been a successful teacher of music and penmanship in the North Bend, Nebr., schools and was elected to fill that position here in Essex this year, but cancelled her contract this summer prior to her marriage.
Mr. Stavaas although practically a stranger to local people has an enviable reputation is his town as a Jeweler.
Congratulations are in order.
