The marriage of Miss Betty Donnell to James Houston Gay took place at 6 o'clock Saturday evening at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. May Donnell in the Idanha apartments at 1700 N street. Miss Helen Ritchie sang "At Dawning" before the ceremony, and De Forrest Gay and Miss Edith Wood played "Orientale" and "Simple Avie" on the piano and violin. About fifteen guests, immediate relatives of the bride and groom, were present for the ceremony which was performed by Rev. B. M. Nyce, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Mrs. W. C. McGimpsey of Sioux City, sister of the bride, and De Forrest Gay, brother of the bridegroom, served as matron of honor and best man. The bride wore a dinner gown of brown Romaine crepe. The apartment was decorated with sweet peas, roses and smilax. Immediately after the ceremony a four-course dinner was served at the Lincoln hotel. Mrs. Gay came to Lincoln about a year ago. She is a graduate of the Marinello school in Chicago. Mr. Gay is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Gay of Essex, Ia., and he and the bride both attended school together in Essex. They will make their home in Lincoln.

The Gay family has further been depleted by two of the boys leaving Essex recently. James, who for several months past has been working in the Commercial National Bank, has severed his connection with that institution and left the first of the week for Lincoln, Nebraska where he has accepted a position with the Lincoln Hotel where he worked for several years before he enlisted in the service. Robert returned to Iowa City where he will resume treatment at the state hospital. He has been home for several months and returns to the hospital in the hope that he may receive the treatment that will be of benefit to him and restore him to health and strength again.
