TIPTON, Ia., Aug. 4.—(Special)—Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Miller announce the marriage of their only daughter, Dorothy Elizabeth, to Orlando Howard Helmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Helmer of Carroll, Ia., which took place Tuesday afternoon at the parsonage of the First M. E. church in Rock Island, Ill., Rev. Edward G. Sanmayer reading the nuptial vows.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller and Wayne B. Hibbs of Carroll were the attendants. The bride attended Cornell college for three years. Mr. Helmer attended Drake and Cornell college.
Mrs. Helmer wore a blue georgette suit and carried an arm bouquest of bride's roses. Her accessories were of white. Mrs. Helmer is popular in the younger set of Tipton.
On Wednesday evening a dinner was served at the Miller residence, covers being laid for seven. The bride's bouquet from the centerpiece of the board, together with white candles in crystal holders.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Durian of Iowa City were out-of-town guests.

Marjorie M. Helmer, 88, of Trevor, died Saturday (Oct. 18, 2003) at St. Catherine's Hospital in Pleasant Prairie.
Born Nov. 7, 1914, in Seattle, Wash., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lottie (Mitchell) Sutherland.
On April 11, 1936, she married Orlando Helmer in Toledo, Ohio. He died Oct. 13, 1962.
She lived in the Grayslake and Round Lake areas of Lake County, Ill., for more than 60 years before moving to her daughter's home in Trevor in 1991.
She worked for the Illinois State Highway Commission from 1958 to 1959, was on the Lake County Board of Review for many years, and then was a bookkeeper for Gustafson Auto Body in Mundelein, Ill.
Here special interests included bowling, fishing, music, reading and karaoke at Grande Prairie Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Adell (Gerald) Laurin of Trevor; her sister, Dorothy Koerper of Wausau, Wis.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Strang Funeral Home in Antioch, Ill. is in charge of arrangements.
