MRS. JAMES E. HOGGE

GLOUCESTER POINT — Mrs. Ellen (Ervine) Hogge, 63, of Gloucester Point, died Wednesday (June 7, 1972) in the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond.

A daughter of John W. and Stella (Hurt) Ervine, she was born in Brownsburg on Dec. 19, 1908. She attended Longwood College and was graduated from Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing in Roanoke after which she was on the nursing staff of VPI in Blacksburg.

During World War II she was a commissioned officer in the Army Nurse Corps and served in the Pacific Theatre. After the war she was a nurse at Oteen Veterans Administration Hospital in Black Mountain, N.C. and then at Kecoughtan VA Hospital in Hamptom from where she retired several years ago. Mrs. Hogge was a member of New Providence Church near Brownsburg.

Surviving are her husband, James E. Hogge of Gloucester Point; two brothers, John W. Jr. of Grass Valley, Calif. and William H. Ervine of Waynesboro, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry W. Martin of Brownsburg and Mrs. W. Kermit Jones of Staunton.

A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Hogg Funeral Home in Gloucester County.

The body will be taken to the Fred Henry Funeral Home in Staunton where friends will be received Saturday night from 8 - 9 o'clock.

A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Brownsburg, by the Rev. David H. Coblentz.

The family suggests that those desiring make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or Abington Rescue Squad at Gloucester Point.
