Bluefield, W. Va., Feb. 14—Cpl. William Kermit Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Jones, Spring Grove Avenue, has been missing in action over Germany since Jan. 21, according to a message from the war department received Saturday by his parents.
Corporal Jones, a gunner on the medium bomber, is attached to the ninth air force.
Corporal Jones attended Bluefield college and was a junior at Virginia Polytechnic Institute when in March, 1942, he enlisted in the army air corps.
After receiving training at San Marcus Texas, and Cimmaron field, Okla., he was sent to a base in England in July, 1943. He later trained in Ireland and from there was sent to join the ninth air force.
His wife, the former Miss Hope Irvine, and little daughter Elizabeth Ellen, reside at her home in Brownsburg, Va.

Mrs. W. Kermit Jones of Brownsburg has received word from the War Department that her husband, Corporal Kermit Jones, previously missing Jan. 23, was killed in action in Germany on that date.
Besides his wife and little daughter, Elizabeth Ellen, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Jones, Bluefield, W. Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Blair Stone, Tallahasse, Fla.; Miss Elizabeth Jones, Greenbrier College, Lewisburg, W. Va.; two brothers, Edward Jones, Baltimore; Corporal Eugene Jones, Army Air Corps.

STAUNTON — Hope (Ervine) Jones, 81, of 232 E. Frederick Street, died Friday (January 30, 1998) at her residence.
Mrs. Jones was born on June 2, 1916 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of John Weir and Stella (Hurt) Ervine.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Jones was employed by the Shenandoah Council of the Boy Scouts, and she was a Lab Technician for Dr. H. Joseph Williams and Dr. William E. Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kermit Jones, who was killed in action in Germany, On January 23, 1945.
She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Ellen Jones of Washington, D. C.; two nieces, a number of nephews and cousins also survive.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (February 3, 1998) in the Ervine Family Plot at New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery, by Dr. A. Taylor Todd, of First Presbyterian Church.
