Obituaries

Rockingham Register, June 4, 19073689

MRS. WILLIAM IRVINE DEAD.

Former Resident of Rockingham Expires in Texas.

Word has been received here of the death at Barston, Texas, on Friday, May 24, of Mrs. William Irvine, who was a native of this county. Her death resulted from consumption.

Mrs. Irvine was a daughter of the late Milton Irvine and was born and reared on the old Irvine homestead on Beaver Creak, in the Ottobine neighborhood.

In 1882 she was married to William Irvine, a prosperous farmer then living near Bridgewater. A few years later the couple removed to Rockbridge county, where they resided until about four years ago, when Mrs. Irvine's health failed, after which they went to Texas in the hope that the climate of that state would benefit her.

Mrs. Irvine was a talented woman, being possessed of unusual mental attainments, and was beloved by all her friends because of her unselfish, christian character.

She is survived by her husband and an only child, William Houston Irvine.

Interment was made at Barston.
