The home of A. W. Lee at Walnut was saddened by the death of Mrs. Lee last month. And now death has taken from it a daughter, Miss Maude Marie Lee. She passed away last night. Two years ago, last September, Miss Lee was riding home from Pomona to Walnut with Dennis Persons. They had turned south on the road that leads from the Southern Pacific station at Walnut, when the Sunset Limited came westward at the rate of thirty-five miles an hour. The automobile, in which Mr. Persons and Miss Lee rode was struck. Mr. Persons and Miss Lee were hurled to the side of the rails and the auto demolished. Mr. Persons and Miss Lee were picked up and taken to Los Angeles hospitals, where the former died a few days later. Miss Lee recovered and in a few months was about, apparently well.
But the fact is she never was really well again. From that day she was an invalid, and when her mother was taken away last month, Miss Lee suffered a bereavement that brought her life soon to a close.
The funeral will be held from the First Baptist church in Pomona on Friday at 2 p.m. The deceased was born in Walnut July 12, 1890. All her life was spent in the family home there. Mr. Lee and his children have the sympathy of all who know them in this, their double sorrow within one short month.
