Mrs. A. W. Lee, 381 Kenoak Drive, entertained a company of guests Saturday afternoon, the affair being complimentary to her daughter, Miss Florence Lee, who is to marry Harry Persons, of Walnut, in the very near future. Formal announcement of the engagement and approaching marriage was made at this time, a novel method being used for imparting the interesting secret.
Cherokee roses, sweat peas and wisteria blossoms were combined in attractive decorations for the home, the color scheme thruout being pink, white and lavender. Pink and white brick ice cream and pink and white cake were the refreshments served and it was while the guests were enjoying these that the surprise announcement came.
The water glasses were made the medium. These were brought in by Mrs. Lee after having kodak pictures of the bride and bridegroom-elect fastened securely with pink hearts to the bottom of each so that the faces peered up thru the water. The time for the wedding, which will take place within the next few weeks, has not been definitely decided upon.
Miss Lee is a graduate of the Puente High school and has had a nurse's training course at the Pomona Valley Hospital, where she attended after the close of her high school days. Mr. Persons, a brother of Mrs. E. E. Garner and Messrs. J. L. Persons, W. D. Persons and M. B. Persons, of Walnut, came here from Wisconsin and is an orange rancher at Walnut.
Those present at the announcement party were Mesdames M. H. Dailey, W. D. Persons, Miles Demond, M. B. Persons, Fred Palmer, William Ferry, J. L. Persons, Max McCoy, Thomas Green, Eugene E. Garner, James Welstoncroft, and the Misses Sarah Peterson and Fern Bowers, Walnut; Mesdames C. W. Rutty, J. H. Bowler, R. E. Myers, C. F. Murry, L. L. Mammersley and the Misses Jeannette Sperl, Mildred Jackson and Mary Witter, Pomona; Mesdames E. L. Hawn, M. M. Palmer, George Breed and Miss Ruby Hawn, Pasadena; and Mesdames B. A. Rogers and Janet Roberts, Long Beach.

Bulletin, April 22, 192010875
Miss Elizabeth Lee and Harry Persons were united in marriage last night at 7 o'clock at the residence of Rev. C. R. Hudson, 553 North Garey avenue. Only Miss Lee's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Lee, of 381 Kenoak Drive were present. Miss Lee was handsomely attired in a dark blue coat suit and carried a bouquet of sweet peas. The ring ceremony was used.
This wedding will be a surprise to the friends of the popular young people, both of whom are well known residents of Pomona and Walnut. Miss Lee has been the motif of much entertaining the last week and although her friends knew the wedding as to be soon they were not prepared for the informality of last night. In fact it seemed to be a sudden resolve of the young people to elude their friends which they did in a very clever manner. They were invited to have dinner at the home of a friend in Chino last night and made this an excuse to throw their friends off their track for after the meal was finished they hurried back in time to have the ceremony performed by Rev. Hudson before the church service.
Mr. and Mrs. Persons left last night for a short wedding trip and when they return will visit at the home of the bride for awhile and then go to Oregon where they will visit relatives. They plan to build a home on Mr. Person's ranch at Walnut and reside there.
