Pierson-McClung Wedding.

Prominent among the spring weddings were the nuptials of Miss Helen Henderson Pierson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Pierson and Dr. Earl Pierce McClung, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McClung of North Jefferson street. The ceremony took place Wednesday evening at 5:30 o'clock and was performed by Rev. B. M. Nyce of the First Presbyterian church, at the home of the bride's parents, 404 West Main street. The rooms were very prettily decorated for the occasion, a color note of pink and white being evidenced throughout. In the front parlors there were vases of pink carnations and calla lilies. Ropes of smilax draped the chandeliers and archways. The bridal altar was arranged with an archway of smilax and carnations, about either side being a cathedral candle hooded in pink and in bronze holders.

Immediately after the ceremony the elegant two course lunch was served in the dining room. The table centerpiece was a beautiful rose bowl filled with Killarney roses and along the center of the table was placed a mat of fern leaves. Place cards were hand painted Killarney roses and the guests were the members of the two immediate families. Dr. and Mrs. McClung left later in the evening for Chicago after which they will return here and be at home to friends, 404 West Main street. Both are well known in social circles of the city.

Dr. Earl P. McClung, 76, 215 N. College Ave., died Friday at Ball Hospital following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Meeks Mortuary with Dr. Lewis W. Gishler officiating. Entombment will be in Elm Ridge Mausoleum.

Dr. McClung, a retired dentist, was a graduate of Muncie High School in 1901, Indiana Dental College at Indianapolis in 1904, and was a member of the Indiana Dental Society, the Delta Gamma Delta fraternity, the First Presbyterian Church, and the Scottish Rite at Indianapolis.

He had received 50-year pins from the state dental society and from the Muncie Masonic Lodge.

Surviving him are his wife, Helen; two daughters, Mrs. Rodney Hayler Jr. of Columbus, Ga., and Mrs. Richard P. Edwards of Decatur, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Agnew of Muncie and Mrs. Arthur Brodbeck of Gary; a brother, E. R. McClung Sr. of New York City; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call at the mortuary after 3 p.m. Saturday.

Helen McClung Dead at 87

Mrs. Helen H. McClung, 87, formerly of 810 Wayne Street and widow of Dr. Earl P. McClung, died Tuesday afternoon at Parkview Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mrs. McClung was born in Shelbyville and came to Muncie at an early age with her parents James and Lola Henderson Pierson. She attended Muncie High School and DePauw University before teaching school at the former Jackson School on South Madison Street.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and had been active in its Flower Mission. She was an alumna of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and was formerly active in the Paul Revere Chapter of DAR and Riverside Culture Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard P. (Peggy) Edwards, Muncie, and Mrs. Rodney G. (Virginia) Hayler, Jr., Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Meeks Mortuary will be in charge of graveside services at Elm Ridge Mausoleum at 10 a.m. Friday with Rev. Lawrence Martin officiating. There will be no calling hours.⁸⁵⁰
